In 2001 Carol Fertig was hired by an investment group to identify several luxury brands that with
creative and operational guidance could be developed to meet growth potential. For years she had
been watching Mrs. Strong’s fine engraved stationery with awe. She considered it a “national treasure”, one
of the last bastions of quality and exquisite detail to exist in it’s space. She recommended the sale, set up a
blueprint for growth. Once the brand was purchased she oversaw all creative development for the first 6
months of the newly formed entity. By instituting new dies, color assortments, merchandise development and retail
expansion she helped to pave the way for the development of the next chapter in the venerable brand’s history.
